How do we relate to the demands of the revised
for KS1 & KS2?

Our aim is to
promote skills across the National Curriculum
to enhance
communication & creative thinking
which are essential to effective learning.
Pink quotes refer to the Revised National Curriculum

“We would recommend the Teach-It-Through-Drama team to any teacher to help them bring to life any aspect of the curriculum.
They were professional, good fun, good value & great to work with.”
Sue Winter, Learning Mentor, Ronald Ross Primary School, Wandsworth.

Skills in speaking & listening include the ability to speak effectively for different audiences which are developed through Drama. It is a group activity: pupils are working with others. In role & in the safe environment of the Drama, they can be encouraged to develop skills & strategies to help solve the problems they face in learning & in real life. Drama develops thinking skills: when in role, pupils have the opportunity to use their thinking skills to the full, processing the information given to them to create the Drama, using reasoning & enquiry to help move the Drama along, whilst using creative skills to build an imaginary scenario for themselves & their classmates.

Inclusion
The National Curriculum stresses the need for Teachers to take specific action to provide access to learning for pupils with special educational needs. Drama is accessible to all and gives all pupils the opportunity actively to explore a theme or the environment by taking part. Drama is a group activity, developing the skills all pupils need to work well with a partner or group, overcoming potential barriers to learning and assessment for individuals and groups of pupils.
